Prof. Gail S. Goodman, Distinguished Professor of psychology and Director of the Center for Public Policy Research is at the University of California Davis. It is believed that she was the one responsible for initiating the modern study of the memory of witnesses and also children's witnesses. The number of publications by Professor Goodman is extensive, she has received numerous grants, and has been the winner of many awards at the national level and international. She has worked with various organizations and government officials across the globe on policy and studies on child victims in the legal system. She is a consultant for the Special Assault Forensic Evaluation Center which was previously known as the Multidisciplinary Interview Center - of Sacramento County Child Protective Services. She is a part of numerous professional associations, including Association for Psychological Science and American Psychological Association. Professor Goodman is also a part of Psychonomics Society Society for Research in Child Development American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (Founding member) International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies. Professor Goodman was the president of American Psychological Association Divisions for Child and Family Policy as well as Practice Division American Psychology Law Society and Division Developmental Psychology.
